HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Wishing everyone good  health, happiness and a blessed 2011.

As for resolutions, I read these in an ad in a magazine and they do sound pretty good, 1. save more money every month (that would be nice)  2. get more free stuff  (this I think can be done by using coupons, buy one get one free, free drink with order etc. I think this was a cable tv ad).   3. hit the gym (healthy habit).  I would like to add getting organized to that, now I've really extended myself.

Getting organized will included organizing the studio.  Since we had water damage with the rains coming in, a new floor will probably be in order first.  Will be keeping you posted on this  "little"  venture as the new year begins and of course, more jewelry making, craft shows, stones, rocks and more....have a fun and safe evening!

ETSY LISTINGS~(soon to be)

Here are some new jewelry pieces that need to be listed in my Etsy jewelry shop, I'm a little behind at the moment, but here are some things that I've come up with to make listing a little easier and faster.  Some of you seasoned Etsians probably already do these things, or maybe have some better tips.  As I finish a piece of jewelry, on a sheet of paper I write the measurements, length of necklace, earrings, bracelet, size of all the stones used and type of stones.  I get pictures taken as soon as I can, even if I'm not going to download them or list that day, when I view them, I crop and then will compress the one's for Etsy and write the identifying numbers of the ones I want to use.  The name for a piece usually comes along the way, I find...and determining price before you even start to list is important...now ready...here goes...have I left anything out?  I would love to hear how you go about your listings, any good tips or suggestions?...or hey, even critique...please chime in...

This is my first cyber holiday season and I'm very excited to be selling my jewelry in the cyber community, so to speak.  In fact, I never heard of Cyber Monday until just recently, even though I do shop on line very oftern myself.  Here is some interesting info about Cyber Monday courtesy of Wikipedia:

The term "Cyber Monday" is a neologism invented by Shop.org, part of the U.S. trade association National Retail Federation.[4] It was first used within the ecommerce community during the 2005 holiday season. According to Scott Silverman, the head of Shop.org, the term was coined based on research showing that 78% of online retailers reported a significant increase in sales on the Monday after Thanksgiving in 2004.[5] In late November 2005, the New York Times reported that "The name Cyber Monday grew out of the observation that millions of otherwise productive working Americans, fresh off a Thanksgiving weekend of window shopping, were returning to high-speed Internet connections at work Monday and buying what they liked."

About Black Friday~wikipedia

Black Friday is the day following Thanksgiving Day in the United States, traditionally the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. Especially popular in the United States and Canada, the event is spreading to other nations such as Australia and the United Kingdom. On this day, many retailers open very early, often at 4 a.m., or earlier, and offer promotional sales to kick off the shopping season. Because Thanksgiving always falls on the fourth Thursday in November in the United States, the day after occurs between the 23rd and the 29th of November.
The day's name originated in Philadelphia, where it originally was used to describe the heavy and disruptive pedestrian and vehicle traffic which would occur on the day after Thanksgiving. Use of the term began by 1966 and began to see broader use outside Philadelphia around 1975. Later an alternative explanation began to be offered: that "Black Friday" indicates the period during which retailers are turning a profit, or "in the black."

Farmers' Market Friday

That time of the week has rolled around again, ready or not!  Yes, it is Farmers' Market Friday.  Buckets must be redone, after the blog, as I went to another indoor show yesterday.  I like to keep my "stuff" down to a minimum.  Two buckets, jewelry case, small folding table, camera, lunch pail,(dating myself with that last note) and purse, two trips in with my small fold up hand cart, but today things need to be put back into their respective buckets for every Friday set-up.  I plan on elaborting more on the shows, on what I learn at every show in future blogs.  Hopefully, each show will be a walk in the park.  But for Friday, there are a few more things, ez up, tables, 4 buckets, chairs etc. but curb side un-loading.
So, as I said must get to work but wanted to chime in and leave you with these beautiful stones to dream of:
2 strands of 10mm faceted lapis lazuli rondelles, beautiful blue coloring with lots of pyrite flecks,....what to do...what to do...?

"Office With No Windows" by Astrid Alauda

The jeweler allows me to wear the sapphire blue lake on my finger, the emerald green leaves around my neck, and take the citrine sunset with me wherever I go. Jewelry has become my daytime link to nature in an office with no windows. And if I have to work late, there's nothing like diamond stars and a pearl full moon against an onyx night sky.

Wow, I like this.  It must be shared.  It's smart, and I dare say, this is my all time favorite quote, or more like poem, of jewelry and gemstones in particular.  Is there a quote or poem that  you particularly enjoy?  Would love to know!

...make way cyber world, it is I!

Okay, so I just did it.  I started a blog.  I don't know alot about it but I figured out , that for me , it is easier to dive in, finally, and learn by doing.  So this I will keep short and sweet.

Today is my weekly farmers' market at Monrovia, CA.  I do like to get out and keep in touch with the customers and friends I have made in the two years that I have been selling my jewelry.  I take alot of pictures of my jewelry booth, jewelry, friends, family and customers that stop by.  I share the helpful tips I learn along the way and I'm always eager to learn from you too.  Every sales event is an adventure to me, the preparation, the anticipation but most of all, the people I meet and talk to, they keep it "fresh" and interesting and are always full of surprises, and we all love surprises.

So, time to get the car loaded...until next time...
